Beyonce Shrugs Off 'Fear' In 'Year Of 4'

'I've never been afraid to fall,' she says in the special, which debuted Thursday on MTV.

It's a good time to be Beyoncé. The singer just released her latest album, 4, and fans were taken behind the scenes of its completion in the special "Beyoncé: Year of 4," which debuted Thursday (June 30) on MTV.

The intimate special opens with black-and-white footage of the singer swimming. "I'm always happy when I'm surrounded by water," she says. "I think I'm a mermaid or I was a mermaid. The ocean makes me feel really small, and it puts my whole life into perspective. ... It humbles you and it grounds you and it makes me feel almost like I've been baptized. Am I the same Beyoncé? Absolutely not."

The special is footage of B's life, complete with montages of the frenzy surrounding her: Video shoots, rehearsals, studio time and photo shoots all pepper her life as she prepares to release her fourth solo studio effort. However, she is quick to point out that, before she got back to work, she needed to decompress in a major way.

"After I finished the last tour, I was a bit overwhelmed and overworked, and my mother was the person that preached to me ... 'You really need to live your life and open your eyes and you don't want to wake up with no memories,' " she explained.

Beyoncé shows what she did on her off-time, which included playing aunt and wife. "I was able to spend time with my family and pick my nephew up from school, and it gave me time to reflect," she said.

In that reflection time, Beyoncé made a major business decision: Her father, Mathew Knowles, would no longer serve as her manager. While explaining the decision, fans are taken back in time thanks to vintage video of the Knowles family. "A real change meant separating from him," she said. "It was scary, but it empowered me, and I wasn't going to let fear stop me."

Fans are once again on Beyoncé's whirlwind world tour as she continues work on her album. "I am a workaholic, and I don't believe in 'no,' " she said. "If I'm not sleeping, nobody's sleeping."

"My focus is not bigger; it's quality, and I want to make sure it's something I'm proud of years from now," she says later on. "It's very difficult managing myself. Every night when I go to sleep, I ask hundreds of questions. I'm making mistakes, and I'm learning from them. I've never been afraid to fall — and I say all these things, but now I'm being tested."

As the special closes, Beyoncé shoots her "Run the World (Girls)" video and continues work on her album, including meetings with record executives. It all ends with B swimming once again, as she says, "I'm learning to drown out the noise. I only have to follow my heart. I run my world."

Carmelo Anthony Wants To Help Out Pal Cassidy

'He's ready to focus on what he needs to focus on,' NBA superstar tells Mixtape Daily of Cass' post-prison career.

NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony has an array of breathtaking moves on the court, but his off-court moves are just as noteworthy. As the head of Krossover Entertainment, Anthony is launching the career of up-and-coming rapper Diego Ca$h as well as helping the already-established Cassidy reinvent his career.

In May, Cassidy was arrested after a warrant was issued stemming from a probation violation. The "I'ma Hustla" rapper, who is now home, explained that the incident all began after he missed an appointment with his P.O., but he's now looking to put the situation behind him. 'Melo is in full support.

"He's good, man. He's home. I'm glad he figured it out, got through that situation," Anthony said, updating Mixtape Daily on his buddy. "I'm glad he got that behind him, and now he's ready to focus on what he needs to focus on — I'm pretty sure getting back into the studio and throwing that under the rug."

Anthony estimates that he and Cassidy met about three years ago, after the New York Knick reached out to the Philly rapper to appear on a Diego Ca$h record. "I tried to get him on a track with one of my artists. He actually did the track, and it just took off from there," 'Melo recalled. "He was available; he was a free agent at the time. He had just came home from jail. He was trying to reinvent himself, and I just thought it was the perfect opportunity at the time to give him new light."

In addition to providing some assistance to Cass, Anthony has been positioning the relatively underground Diego Ca$h as an artist to watch for. Ca$h's latest video, "Return of the Rican," was shot during the 2011 Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City and features hip-hop veteran Fat Joe.

While Carmelo does have quite a few extracurricular activities, his focus is still on the basketball court. Though 'Melo's New York Knicks were swept out of the NBA Playoffs, losing four straight games to the Boston Celtics, Anthony seems focused and ready to continue balling in his hometown after he was traded to NY from Denver in February. "I'm home now; that's the most important thing."

Amazing Top 10 Most Expensive Accidents in History

Throughout history, humans have always been prone to accidents. Some, such as the exotic car crashes seen on this page, can be very expensive. But that’s trivial compared to the truly expensive accidents. An accident is defined as “an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss”. Our aim is to list the top 10 most expensive accidents in the history of the world as measured in dollars.
This includes property damage and expenses incurred related to the accident such as cleanup and industry losses. Many of these accidents involve casualties which obviously cannot be measured in dollar terms. Each life lost is priceless and is not factored into the equation. Deliberate actions such as war or terrorism and natural disasters do not qualify as accidents and therefore are not included in this list.

10. Titanic - $150 Million The sinking of the Titanic is possibly the most famous accident in the world. But it barely makes our list of top 10 most expensive. On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage and was considered to be the most luxurious ocean liner ever built. Over 1,500 people lost their lives when the ship ran into an iceberg and sunk in frigid waters. The ship cost $7 million to build ($150 million in today’s dollars).

9. Tanker Truck vs Bridge - $358 Million On August 26, 2004, a car collided with a tanker truck containing 32,000 liters of fuel on the Wiehltal Bridge in Germany. The tanker crashed through the guardrail and fell 90 feet off the A4 Autobahn resulting in a huge explosion and fire which destroyed the load-bearing ability of the bridge. Temporary repairs cost $40 million and the cost to replace the bridge is estimated at $318 Million.

8. MetroLink Crash - $500 Million On September 12, 2008, in what was one of the worst train crashes in California history, 25 people were killed when a Metrolink commuter train crashed head-on into a Union Pacific freight train in Los Angeles. It is thought that the Metrolink train may have run through a red signal while the conductor was busy text messaging. Wrongful death lawsuits are expected to cause $500 million in losses for Metrolink.

7. B-2 Bomber Crash - $1.4 Billion Here we have our first billion dollar accident (and we’re only #7 on the list). This B-2 stealth bomber crashed shortly after taking off from an air base in Guam on February 23, 2008. Investigators blamed distorted data in the flight control computers caused by moisture in the system. This resulted in the aircraft making a sudden nose-up move which made the B-2 stall and crash. This was 1 of only 21 ever built and was the most expensive aviation accident in history. Both pilots were able to eject to safety.

6. Exxon Valdez - $2.5 Billion The Exxon Valdez oil spill was not a large one in relation to the world’s biggest oil spills, but it was a costly one due to the remote location of Prince William Sound (accessible only by helicopter and boat). On March 24, 1989, 10.8 million gallons of oil was spilled when the ship’s master, Joseph Hazelwood, left the controls and the ship crashed into a Reef. The cleanup cost Exxon $2.5 billion.

5. Piper Alpha Oil Rig - $3.4 Billion The world’s worst off-shore oil disaster. At one time, it was the world’s single largest oil producer, spewing out 317,000 barrels of oil per day. On July 6, 1988, as part of routine maintenance, technicians removed and checked safety valves which were essential in preventing dangerous build-up of liquid gas. There were 100 identical safety valves which were checked. Unfortunately, the technicians made a mistake and forgot to replace one of them. At 10 PM that same night, a technician pressed a start button for the liquid gas pumps and the world’s most expensive oil rig accident was set in motion. Within 2 hours, the 300 foot platform was engulfed in flames. It eventually collapsed, killing 167 workers and resulting in $3.4 Billion in damages.

4. Challenger Explosion - $5.5 Billion The Space Shuttle Challenger was destroyed 73 seconds after takeoff due on January 28, 1986 due to a faulty O-ring. It failed to seal one of the joints, allowing pressurized gas to reach the outside. This in turn caused the external tank to dump its payload of liquid hydrogen causing a massive explosion. The cost of replacing the Space Shuttle was $2 billion in 1986 ($4.5 billion in today’s dollars). The cost of investigation, problem correction, and replacement of lost equipment cost $450 million from 1986-1987 ($1 Billion in today’s dollars).

3. Prestige Oil Spill - $12 Billion On November 13, 2002, the Prestige oil tanker was carrying 77,000 tons of heavy fuel oil when one of its twelve tanks burst during a storm off Galicia, Spain. Fearing that the ship would sink, the captain called for help from Spanish rescue workers, expecting them to take the ship into harbour. However, pressure from local authorities forced the captain to steer the ship away from the coast. The captain tried to get help from the French and Portuguese authorities, but they too ordered the ship away from their shores. The storm eventually took its toll on the ship resulting in the tanker splitting in half and releasing 20 million gallons oil into the sea. According to a report by the Pontevedra Economist Board, the total cleanup cost $12 billion.

2. Space Shuttle Columbia - $13 Billion The Space Shuttle Columbia was the first space worthy shuttle in NASA’s orbital fleet. It was destroyed during re-entry over Texas on February 1, 2003 after a hole was punctured in one of the wings during launch 16 days earlier. The original cost of the shuttle was $2 Billion in 1978. That comes out to $6.3 Billion in today’s dollars. $500 million was spent on the investigation, making it the costliest aircraft accident investigation in history. The search and recovery of debris cost $300 million. In the end, the total cost of the accident (not including replacement of the shuttle) came out to $13 Billion according to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

1. Chernobyl - $200 Billion On April 26, 1986, the world witnessed the costliest accident in history. The Chernobyl disaster has been called the biggest socio-economic catastrophe in peacetime history. 50% of the area of Ukraine is in some way contaminated. Over 200,000 people had to be evacuated and resettled while 1.7 million people were directly affected by the disaster. The death toll attributed to Chernobyl, including people who died from cancer years later, is estimated at 125,000. The total costs including cleanup, resettlement, and compensation to victims has been estimated to be roughly $200 Billion. The cost of a new steel shelter for the Chernobyl nuclear plant will cost $2 billion alone. The accident was officially attributed to power plant operators who violated plant procedures and were ignorant of the safety requirements needed.

Former co-host of the ABC weekday morning talk show The View Star Jones, 46, was spotted wearing a bikini earlier this month.

Gossip columnists alleged the controversial TV star agreed to have those pictures taken.

“The attention-seeking celebrity is proving she’ll go to any length in order to make headlines…” suggest gossip column on Star Jones’ Bikini pics on fashion.ie.

Star Jones’ Bikini photos were first published on justjared.com. Some of the pics revealed staples scar from Star Jones’ 2003 gastric bypass surgery.

The TV star’s latest public controversy was in March 2008 when pictures posted online of Jones with Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade, sparked rumors of an affair.

Madonna And A-Rod?s Helicopter Rendezvous To Jerry Seinfeld?s

IT was like a scene out of a James Bond movie last week, as Madonna and Alex Rodriguez secretly jetted off in two private helicopters for a quick and cozy rendezvous in the Hamptons, Page Six has learned.

Instead of booking a motel room, the two headed straight to Jerry Seinfeld’s waterfront mansion, where they relaxed in luxury for several hours.

“The Seinfelds have been friends with Madonna for years. They’re neighbors on the West Side, so it’s really no surprise,” said an insider. “And Jerry and [wife] Jessica go to her concerts whenever she’s in town.”

Our spies say the clandestine East End meeting between soon-to-be-divorced Madge and freshly single A-Rod occurred on Oct. 21. A chopper carrying the Yankee slugger was seen landing in East Hampton, where he was picked up in a white Porsche 911 matching the description of Jessica’s car.

Less than 40 minutes later, another helicopter that took off from Chelsea Piers with Madonna aboard landed at the same airstrip.

“A dark SUV and Jerry in another Porsche both pulled up and picked up Madonna and they headed back to Jerry’s place,” a witness told us. “When they arrived at the Seinfeld home, Madonna poked her head out the window and could be clearly seen.” Repotr-Huff Post.

?Kappa Girl? fired for sex video

A 12 minute long sex video of a female employee working at the Kappa store in the east building of the Shanghai No.1 Department Store on Nanjing Lu has recently been spreading like wildfire on the Chinese internet via Bittorrent and the Chinese peer-to-peer application Xunlei, catapulting the search term ‘Kappa?′ (or “Kappa Girl”) into one of the top ten search terms on Google China and unleashing a ‘human flesh search engine’ where netizens worked together to track her down, publishing her private information such as her name, her pictures and her QQ number. The sexually explicit conversation between her and her boyfriend has also been translated from Shanghainese to Mandarin and plastered all over the internet (don’t worry guys, ChinaSmack will get around to translating all the juiciest bits into English for you soon enough). Fascinated, people started thronging the Kappa store (check out this scene ? these guys weren’t there for a sale!) with cameras in hand trying to catch a glimpse of her.

Besieged by questions, the girl started a blog to defend herself, and while she was at it, she would be putting up more nice sexy pictures and videos of herself. In her blog, she wrote of how she might as well make good use of her sudden fame. Since she was “way prettier” than Furong Jiejie, she surmised she could learn a bit from Muzimei to put her exploits down on paper and make a living from it. Needless to say, she was soon sacked by Kappa ? who, as Shanghai Daily informs us, fired her because she had “tarnished its image”. In her next post, she announced that she was now looking for sponsors ? her rates would be RMB20,000 for a bar appearance, RMB50,000 for an underwear modelling assignment, RMB30,000 for an exclusive interview, and RMB100 per day for banner ads placed on her blog. Indeed when Shanghai Daily tried to contact her, the reporter was told to hand over RMB30,000 before she would grant an interview.

Under Chinese law, anyone who films or uploads sex videos onto the internet is guilty of distributing pornographic content and Shanghai police are now furiously wanking hard at work uncovering the origins of the video.

Obama Appoints Christina Romer to Chair Council of Economic

Christina Romer, of UC Berkeley, has been appointed to Chair President Elect Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers. Romer wrote, if not the book, at least the chapter for Encyclopedia Britannica, The Great Depression. News of her appointment should make liberals and women who opposed the appointment of Lawrence Summers, who many predicted (including today’s Wall Street Journal) would get this job, somewhat happy, though it looks like Summers will be named White House economic director.

Professor Romer and her husband David were both advisers to the Obama campaign and they hold two seats on the committee which decides when the U.S is officially in a recession.The Romers are macroeconomists, who study the big picture in economics. They’ve also studied the way tax cuts affect the economy and government spending. A UC Berkeley article reported,
What they found about both issues surprised them. Tax cuts provide powerful short-run stimulus to the economy, but there is little evidence that tax cuts restrain government spending.

“It turns out,” Christina explains, “that tax cuts have led, eventually, to tax increases. Basically, something has to give. What we thought gave when you cut taxes was spending, but we seem to find that in postwar U.S. history what actually gives is the tax cut itself. Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz Secretly Marry

The pair tied the knot in New York on Wednesday.

It was the kind of clandestine operation only James Bond could pull off. Rachel Weisz and her "James Bond" beau Daniel Craig secretly married last week in New York.

Reps for the couple confirmed the nuptials to the Daily Mail and People.com. Little is known about the Big Apple ceremony, but according to reports, the wedding took place on Wednesday and was attended by just four people. In addition to the actors' children — Rachel's 5-year-old son, Henry (his dad is "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky), and Daniel's 18-year-old daughter, Ella — the wedding guests included two friends of the couple who acted as witnesses.

"Daniel and Rachel insisted on having a small, quiet wedding," a source reportedly told the News of the World. "They are madly in love and couldn't wait to be husband and wife — but they wanted minimum fuss. They had a couple of friends as witnesses and their children from previous relationships and that was it."

Weisz and Craig have always been quite private about their relationship. Romance rumors were sparked last year when they were filming "Dream House," in which they star as a married couple. In the supernatural thriller, their lives take a turn for the worse when they move with their two daughters to a quiet New England town and find out their new home was the site of a murder that claimed the life of a young mother and her two children. Naomi Watts also stars in the film as a neighbor with close ties to the deceased family.

Last year, Weisz split from Aronofsky, whom she was with for nine years. Meanwhile, Craig parted ways with his producer girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell earlier in 2010.

LOS ANGELES — Radio station Power 106 held their annual sold-out Powerhouse concert at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, on Saturday night, bringing together multiple generations of hip-hop stars, from West Coast OG Ice Cube to L.A.'s latest dance-craze instigators the Rej3ctz to a chart-topping visitor from out east, Wiz Khalifa.

The Rej3ctz opened the show with a high-energy performance and later danced onstage with the very colorful LMFAO as they performed "Shots." Sporting a white T-shirt and bright yellow cargo shorts, T-Pain took it up a couple notches with a string of his hits and left fans fully charged with DJ Khaled's "All I Do Is Win."

The evening had a couple of surprises on deck: 50 Cent joined Jeremih on their collabo "Down on Me," which Jeremih said was the first time they've ever performed the song together in concert. Compton's own DJ Quik gave loyal fans what they came for, and when Lupe Fiasco pulled young crooner Trey Songz onstage during his set, screaming concertgoers raised the decibels to new heights.

The Don Mega himself, Ice Cube, brought out his old N.W.A bandmate MC Ren on the song "Hello."

"It makes you feel good, being in the game as long as I have," Ice Cube told MTV News before the show. "I done went from new school to old school and still here. You can't do nothing but be humbled by the fact that so many rappers is gone. ... I'm still here after all this time."

Cube was also the most-anticipated act of the evening by fellow performers including the headliner, Wiz Khalifa.

"This is my first time performing at Powerhouse, my first time performing at an event this big, so I feel elated," Wiz told MTV News before his set. "I'm really excited about seeing Cube."

But Khalifa had another trick up his sleeve when it came to honoring L.A.'s hip-hop roots: He brought out his "High School" co-star Snoop Dogg for one last Powerhouse surprise, no doubt leaving 18,000 fans feeling like they got their money's worth.
