How You Can Help Earthquake And Tsunami Relief Efforts In Japan

Last week, we told you about the “Paper Cranes for Japan” program, a project spearheaded by our friends over at DoSomething.org as a way to show support for the Japanese people during their time of need.
As you have no doubt read, things are continuing to get worse in many areas of Japan. As such, we thought we’d provide you with a few more ways you can contribute:


Donate to the Red Cross: They have relief stations located across the country that will assist with citizen evacuation and medical needs. You can either click here or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
Help find loved ones: From the Red Cross:Inquiries concerning U.S. citizens living or traveling in Japan should be referred to the U.S. Department of State, Office of Overseas Citizens Services at 1-888-407-4747 or 202-647-5225.
Donate to the Salvation Army: The Salvation Army in Japan has three emergency service relief teams working throughout the affected regions in Japan. The group is accepting donations online, and mobile users can also text JAPAN or QUAKE to 80888 to donate $10.
GlobalGiving: This organization is working with International Medical Corps, Save the Children, and other organizations on the ground. Text JAPAN to 50555 to donate.
Save the Children Federation: The group said it has teams within 80 miles of the nuclear reactor at Fukushima to assess the needs of children. To donate, text JAPAN or TSUNAMI to 20222.
