The Snooki-Ball Will Go Down In Jersey This New Year?s Eve

On New Year’s Eve Snooki will be hurtling toward the pavement in a very familiar part of town, only this time it won’t be because she drunkenly toppled out of her heels. TMZ reports that the Snooki New Year’s Eve ball has been spotted in none other than Seaside Heights. The translucent orb with light-up Snooki sign will deposit the guidette gently onto New Jersey soil, meaning that after Snooki goes down, she’ll be able to walk to her house in the morning. Which is probably how she prefers it anyway.
Insiders revealed earlier today that it was Times Square officials that stopped Snooki from crawling into her hamster ball this Friday. “The Snooki ball drop isn’t going to happen in Times Square. At midnight, the crowd and the media will be watching Mayor Bloomberg, Dick Clark and the official ball drop, not a cast member of the Jersey Shore,” a source explained. We guess since we watch the Jersey Shore crew the other 364 days of the year, maybe we can let this one slide. Eminem, Jay-Z's Leaked Track 'Syllables' Was Recorded In 2007

Heads were scratched when a dated, top-notch collaboration between some of hip-hop's biggest MCs, including Eminem, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and Stat Quo, surfaced in the blogosphere yesterday. And while deliberate (and unintentional) leaks happen all the time, it was odd that nobody had ever heard of the all-star cut titled "Syllables." However, Cashis, another one of the track's featured rappers, gave fans some insight into the track in an interview with Vibe.com, admitting his excitement as a then-newly-signed artist to collaborate alongside rap icons.

"I laid my part at Dre's studio with Stat, 50 and Em," Cashis recalls of the track, which talks of the industry's lack of lyrical substance and its reliance on gimmicks. "I heard that Jay had just left when I got there. Fif' was there kicking his verse in another room when I did mine."

But the MC, who had just been signed to Shady Records at the time, confessed that he wasn't nervous to spit alongside the hip-hop heavyweights. "I was more so excited than intimidated because I already had held my own with Em, and I think they believed in me this time. After I kicked my verse, Em, Dre and 50 all said it was dope. That was the cosign I needed. I learned more from that session than any other before that."

While Cashis isn't sure whether the "Syllables" leak was authorized by his label or not, the Slim Shady protégé says that the version that hit the Internet is different "and even better" than the one originally recorded in 2007. The tune was set to be featured on one of Eminem's LPs or Dr. Dre's highly anticipated Detox.

However, the rapper, who released his County Hound EP that same year, reveals that he's remained patient and hardworking while waiting for Eminem to sort through his personal trials in recent years.

"I ain't never left. My position is good over at Shady," the MC says. "Em pulled me to the side when he was coming back and told me the plan. He was going to get himself going again and then put me out. It got to a point where Em didn't want to rap anymore. But I told him to take as long as you want to take. For him to get inspired again is a blessing."

But this time, the news is for real, and LeAnn’s rep told People, “Yes, they were engaged over the holidays and are very happy.” A source has revealed that the couple apparently designed the ring themselves along with the help of a friend Brent Polacheck, who is a jeweler, saying, “The couple wanted an antique feel, but a new ring.” �The resultant engagement ring is supposedly a 5-carat diamond and platinum rock set in rose gold, about which LeAnn tweeted a friend saying, “Thx! Brent, is great friend and he did so well. I only knew about small pieces of it.”
LeAnn also tweeted the happy news, writing, “For those who haven’t read, Eddie and I got engaged over the holidays. That’s the news. It’s for real this tine [sic] and the first time EVER! Congratulation, Eddie and LeAnn. Don’t mess this up!

Lily Allen Joins The Holiday Engagement Parade

We definitely thought we had heard silver bells on Friday. Turns out they were actually wedding bells for the approximately 1 billion celebrity couples getting engaged over the holidays, which now includes Lily Allen’s engagement to boyfriend Sam Cooper. Cooper reportedly took a knee while the couple were vacationing in Bali on Christmas Day. “Lily is absolutely beaming and emotional at the same time,” said a source close to the couple. The pair was so excited, they immediately started telling their fellow vacationers the happy news. Some children get to wake up to the magical sound of reindeer hoofs on the roof, others to singer-songwriter Lily Allen pounding on their hotel room door to show off her rock.
2010 was a particularly hard year for Allen, who suffered from her second miscarriage in November. The first was in 2007 with then-boyfriend Ed Simons of The Chemical Brothers. “She had no idea Sam was going to propose and said ‘Yes’ instantly. He’s been her rock for her since the couple lost their baby and she can’t wait to spend the rest of her life with him,” said the source. We wish the happy couple all the luck in the world, and look forward to January 2 when we won’t have to be repeatedly reminded of our singledom by famous people in love. The Grammy Award winning band Maroon 5 has agreed to be the house band during our January 14th broadcast of the 16th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards. Saudi Princess Says She?s Ready To Drive Photo

The wife of one of�Saudi Arabia?s richest men says she is ready to get behind the wheel as soon as the ban on women drivers is lifted.

Princess Amira al-Taweel, who is married to global tycoon Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, told the Saudi daily Al-Watan that she already drives when she travels abroad.

‘Certainly I’m ready to drive a car,’ said Amira, whose husband is a nephew of Saudi King Abdallah and is ranked as the world’s 13th-richest person by Forbes magazine.

Women in Saudi Arabia are currently banned from driving because of the risk of creating ’sinful temptation’

‘I have an international driver’s license, and I drive a car in all the countries I travel to.’

Women in�Saudi Arabia�have not been permitted to drive since the establishment of the state in 1932, but the government is set to lift its ban and issue a decree by the end of the year.

However if the ban is lifted, there are likely to be hurdles such as obtaining licences and insurance which must also be overcome.

Princess al-Taweel said: ‘I prefer driving a car with my sister or friend next to me instead of being with a driver who is not (related to me).?

The prohibition forces families to hire live-in drivers, and those who cannot afford the $300-$400 a month for a driver must rely on male relatives to drive them to work, school, shopping or the doctor.

But change will be difficult in this ultraconservative society, where many believe that women at the wheel create situations for sinful temptation.

They argue that women drivers will be free to leave home alone, will unduly expose their eyes while driving and will interact with male strangers, such as traffic police and mechanics.

Ergo, the name Bieber picked is kind of a fail. Ready for it … he chose Chandler Bing.
And to make matters even worse, hotel staff found “Chandler” locked out of his suite with Selena at approximately 1 am, after they had ordered room service. Come to think of it, the name works, because that’s a total Chandler-esque thing to have done!

'I Used To Be Fat' Star Opens Up About Series Premiere

First episode, airing Wednesday (December 29), follows Gabriella.

Gabriella is ready to chronicle her struggles to lose weight and get healthier on MTV's "I Used to Be Fat." On the show, Gabriella, along with her trainer, Katie, learns to eat and exercise her way to a healthier weight before she heads off to college. With the show debuting Wednesday night (December 29), Gabriella said she's really excited for everyone to see how she slimmed down.

"On the show, you're gonna see just a normal high school senior and just the struggles that a regular high school senior goes through, but my story's different because I wanted to lose weight," she told MTV News. "You're just gonna see someone who struggles with everyday life and, on top of that, losing weight."

Regarding seeing herself on the first episode, Gabriella said, "It was weird, and it was kind of sad too. I saw it, and I was like, 'I was really that big?' I couldn't really believe it. It made me even more proud of myself because I saw how far I've come."

Gabriella said she had many people in her life cheering her on during the transition, and especially credited her mom for keeping her strong through the process.

"My parents were really supportive, and I think that's really important 'cause you need to have a good support system, and they were really happy for me," she recalled. "My friends were really, really supportive because they knew I always struggled with my weight and I always had a problem."

Looking back, Gabriella had a little advice for her former self: "I would tell her to get off the couch and get up and I could do it. I would tell myself to stay strong or be strong."

So, what tips does she have for others in her position? "The best piece of advice is: Just take it day by day," she suggested. "Because it's a process. It is hard, but if you stay strong and motivated, you can do it."

Teens Save Friend Bitten By One of World?s Deadliest Snakes

An Australian teenager has survived two bites from one of the world’s deadliest snakes thanks to the quick thinking of friends who recently completed a first aid course.

It was the second time Ryan Cole, 15, of Mundubbera, about 240 miles northwest of Brisbane, has been bitten by a deadly snake in a year.

Ryan was bitten twice on the foot by a coastal taipan, which has the third most toxic venom of all land snakes, as he jumped into a popular swimming hole in the Burnett River on Sunday, The Courier-Mail reports.

“I’ve been attacked twice and bitten four times ? that’s pretty unlucky,” the recuperating teen said Thursday as he relived the ordeal with his friends.

“But then it is really lucky to have survived. I’m really grateful to my mates that they knew what to do and did it.”

His brother Jakob, 16, and friends Scott Smith, Josh Allen, Lee Carson and Torren Wood heard his call for help and dragged him from the waterhole as he started convulsing and bleeding from the mouth.

Cole was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Sundayt night and spent the next three days in intensive care. He returned home on Wednesday and is recovering slowly. Report - Foxnews

Dawn Neufeld?s Playbook - Football Wives Finale

Dawn Neufeld of Football Wives has agreed to blog for us, giving us weekly behind-the-scenes insight and dishing on each of her show’s episodes. Her take on the show’s finale is below…
Have vs. Have Not
?Football Wives finale Sunday? was a highly anticipated day in the Neufeld household. In addition to the airing of our final episode, we?d been invited by Amanda Davis to sit in her field-level suite at Cowboys stadium to see our home team take on the rival Washington Redskins. The Cowboys took an early lead but the defense faltered and the Redskins tied it up late in the fourth quarter. Our own David Buehler ended up kicking the game-winning field goal. The stadium erupted with excitement ? we were so happy for him and Brittany.
Sunday was also a ?first? for Ryan ? it was his first time attending an NFL game when he wasn?t suited up on the field playing. I?m sure it was a little emotional for him and I bet he imagined himself on that field in front of 100,000 cheering fans making tackles and catching passes. But after standing for a quarter, Ryan had to sit down because his back started aching. We were reminded of the toll the game he?s played and loved for so many years has taken on him physically ? he couldn?t play another season if he wanted to. I think knowing you can?t be on the field playing makes it a little easier to sit back and enjoy the show.

Shortly after kickoff, my cell phone started buzzing with texts, phone calls, Twitter mentions and Facebook messages. This was the first Sunday all season I haven?t caught the early airing of the show, and I?d have to wait all day to see what all the chatter was about. One message on Twitter said, ?Just watched. Time to unfollow you. Wow. You can give it but you can?t take it?? ?Take what?? I wondered out loud. Another message read, ?I?m sorry but you?re a BITCH!! Let people live!!… How the hell you an attorney and mom?? Someone was attacking my credibility and ability to be a good mother based on what they saw on the show? Knowing that the finale featured our cast trip to New York, I thought back to what happened on the trip and while I knew there had been drama, I didn?t think it was all that bad and I wondered what I?d done to become the person people love to hate. A good friend who I love and trust then wrote, ?Not liking your portrayal. You and Chanita look bitter. Poor editing.? As much as I?d anticipated the season finale, the comments had me pretty worried.
As I watched the show, I understood why people were saying I was bitter and jealous. If I were watching the episode and didn?t know me, I?d probably be going off as well. Why wouldn?t people think I?m overly consumed with Pilar when EVERY SINGLE SCENE I?m in, I?m talking about her? I?ve always taken responsibility for my behavior on the show (as I think everyone should), and I stand by the fact that what viewers have seen was real and not staged. What I cannot stand is when only part of the story is told. To see a four-day trip wrapped up in so much conflict and drama was disheartening. I certainly didn?t spend my time away from Ryan and the kids focusing on Pilar, though the editors sure would like you to think I did.
There are a couple things I noticed while watching the episode ? did anyone else notice how busted everyone?s hair looked? We made it to New York just as tropical storm Nicole gripped the city and the humidity was awful. Many women reading this can relate to the havoc humidity can wreak on one?s coif. I think we took the Texas humidity with us to the big city.
Another thing I noticed ? viewers don?t get to see how much fun we had in New York because of the drama. We took a private cruise around the city ? what an awesome way to take in the sights! We marveled at the skyline, reflected when we closed in on Ground Zero, and saluted when we neared the Statue of Liberty. We had a ball! And the night Chanita, Erin, Brittany, Jay and I went out on the town, we didn?t get in until after 4 a.m.! We danced on couches singing ?Come on Eileen? in one club and Diddy?s ?Hello, Good Morning? in another. We hit up three different clubs that night and even took pictures in an empty Times Square before heading back to the Paramount where we were staying. I hadn?t had that much fun in years. It truly was a night to remember and Chanita and I talked about how it was one of those ?bucket list? outings we?ll remember forever.



Our first night in New York, we ate dinner at The Strand and enjoyed the fabulous views of the Empire State Building from the rooftop. The clouds were rolling in and created an almost-magical backdrop for the evening. I meant what I said to Chanita that night ? Pilar wasn?t thinking about us, so we had to make sure we didn?t let her ruin our trip. I was as confused as everyone else watching the episode ? how could I go from telling Chanita we needed to move on to talking about Pilar in all the subsequent scenes? Interestingly enough, I think back to New York - Pilar and I were on the same return flight to Dallas after our trip. We stood about a foot apart waiting to board the plane when Pilar told me, ?You know I don?t have a problem with you, right?? Could?ve fooled me?
The dinner on our last night in New York was a bummer for all of us. While the Pilar-vs.-everyone dynamic was expected, no one saw the Dawn-Chanita-Melani argument coming. Many people don?t understand why I became so upset with Melani at dinner. Truth is, she?d become a confidante and good friend. I often had long conversations with Melani while we were shooting the show. We?d talk about the ?work? aspect of shooting a reality show and the relationships and conflicts that were forming. The week before we left for New York, I?d expressed to Melani my only concern about participating on the show ? the fact that it could potentially affect my career as an attorney depending on how it was edited. I wondered if I?d be made to look like I drink excessively since the cameras always seemed to focus on my choice of beverage even though many of the other ladies were having a cocktail as well. I?d used profanity and taken a spin around a stripper pole on the back of a boat ? activities that some might think are socially and/or professionally unacceptable ? and it was all caught on camera. Melani told me to pray about it and tried to assure me that everything would be okay.
Being our resident peacemaker, Melani was understandably upset about the drama and tension. She expressed that she was tired of people being thrown under the bus for the sake of television. We were walking that fine line between creating an entertaining (i.e. drama-filled) television show while staying true to the women we are. It was hard to accept that the line was being crossed almost daily while we were filming, but my television background helped me understand that folks wouldn?t be tuning into Football Wives to watch us sing ?Kumbaya.?
Viewers weren?t privy to these conversations I?d had with Melani so they wouldn?t understand why I was so sensitive to the fact that she?d bring up my career to call me out on my behavior towards Pilar. Melani had just thrown me under the same bus she was tired of everyone being under. I was incredibly hurt ? I felt like I?d told someone my most intimate secrets in confidence and that she?d turned around and shouted them from the top of the Empire State Building. I know Melani never would?ve intentionally hurt me, and think she realized a major line had been crossed, which is why she immediately came up to me and apologized. I can appreciate what she was trying to accomplish that night, but I think she was trying to fix something that was beyond repair. It took us a couple of weeks to recover from that night, but we were eventually able to move on.
Another thing I found interesting about the episode ? hearing all the name-calling Pilar did when she was around others or in front of the camera. Pilar has gone on and on about how we were always talking behind her back about her. I?m pretty sure I?ve told her directly exactly how I feel. I watched the episode and heard Pilar call us (Chanita and I) swine and ?have nots.? Apparently neither of those are as bad as calling someone a ?bitch.? She called me a green-eyed monster insinuating, like many have just come out and said over the last couple of months, that I am jealous of her. What bothered me the most is when she portrayed me as someone who is not grateful and thankful for what I?ve been given which can?t be further from the truth. I can say this as loud and as often as possible, but what good will it do if people think the ?real? me is what they see in a show as drama-filled as possible edited into 22 minutes a week? Would anyone care if I had been accurately portrayed as someone content with her life?
The ?have vs. have not?-theme was ingrained in viewers from episode one ? it made it easy for people to call Chanita and I jealous and bitter when the issue of money and status, and the alleged lack of it, has been the central theme of our season. I couldn?t quite put my finger on why I was so bothered by the finale. Then it hit me ? I have never felt like a ?have not? until I watched the final show. All this time I?ve considered myself a ?have.? I have a healthy family, we have a roof over our heads, we have jobs and income. While we aren?t as financially secure as we used to be, we have been given plenty. I have an education and career. Ryan and I were so grateful every time he stepped foot onto an NFL field that we weren?t consumed with superstar status and I?d never contemplated that we weren?t ?haves.? All this, and I was portrayed on the show as not being content with my life. To add insult to injury, the one person who actually did focus her attention on status and money during production was portrayed as the victim of relentless, unprovoked bashing and hatred, which couldn?t have been further from the truth.
The season finale lacked closure, but luckily for us, we had plenty in real life. After wrapping everyone congregated at Amanda?s house for one last hurrah. Well, almost everyone. Amanda said in New York, ?You are who you hang out with.? I think back to the love and camaraderie that filled that room and I figure, I?m in good company.
