If these reports are to be believed, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are boycotting the Oscars. Why, you ask? Is it for political reasons? To make a point about a social cause? For professional reasons? Nah, it’s mostly because they can’t take a joke. Supposedly, TomKat are upset at Oscar host Anne Hathaway because Hathaway performed a submissive, zombie-like impression of Holmes on Saturday Night Live back in November. Hathaway’s impression was pretty spot-on, but a source says Katie “feels let down that Anne took to national TV to make fun of her.” Holmes and Hathaway were friends, once upon a time, and now it seems that the power couple feels betrayed. Xenu forbid these guys ever cross paths with Ricky Gervais, Kathy Griffin or anyone else who’s prone to celebrity mocking, what Hathaway did on SNL was charming compared to their m.o.
Katie may just be extra sensitive at the moment, though, given that her long-awaited History Channel miniseries about the Kennedys has been shelved. Despite having finished shooting, the project was allegedly historically inaccurate and some sources say it was actually opposed by members of the Kennedy family. Not a great time for Katie, it seems. Oh, wait, she’s rich, successful, has a cute kid and she’s part of the most powerful couple in Hollywood—we think she’ll be okay, actually.
